Much has changed in the past fifty years and today’s women is a complete transformation from what she was even a decade ago. This is reflected in the inner strength and confidence she carries herself with today. Truly a woman of substance, she is prepared to face crises and sails through all difficulties with ease. She is conscious about her looks and takes care of her body by way of exercising, diet and a regular skin and hair programme. Her body is important to her and she has learnt to love it and take care of it. Today’s woman has realised that sex is important for her just as much as it is for a man. She no longer looks at sex as a habitual ritual; a necessary every night activity to satisfy her lover, no matter how she feels about it. It is not a favour, neither is she fulfilling a need for her partner. Sex is something which makes her feel beautiful and more complete; it makes her skin flush and glow and she is ready to create and experiment with her lover and show him just how to make every time the perfect time to love her and her body.
The relation between sex and skin is important as good looking skin definitely makes one more desirable and as good sex can also lead to great skin. We have dedicated a complete chapter to sex and skin because both of these are important to the contemporary woman for she knows what she wants and she knows how to get it. She is no longer an instrument for sexually satisfying a man’s needs but has learnt to enjoy as well as give pleasure. It is this consciousness, this satisfaction of loving as well as being loved that makes sex so fulfilling and complete. Women today are ready to experiment with sex and create a situation to their advantage. The flushed look, glowing, clear skin, bright eyes are definite signs of a complete and satisfied sex life, as inner happiness is sure to be reflected on a smiling skin.
Skin was created to be touched and loved and this is perhaps why we like to pamper and care of it. Our brains and bodies release monoamines, a chemical produced within the body, when the skin is caressed as a result of which our pupils dilate and make our eyes shine and look more attractive. When these chemicals are released within our body they cause the heart to pump harder which gives a flushed look to the skin and the person appears to be glowing. A woman in love, a woman with a happy sex life can actually look younger and revitalized. It is sad that a lot of younger women, once they are married, just let themselves go. Ugly bulges, messy hair, clumsy make-up, a general feeling of indifference towards their bodies and the lack of desire to look and feel good is quite common. So many women seem to have given up totally on any sexual pleasure in their lives. If only they were to stop and re-think, for sex has no age limit, the body is never any less desirable and the skin always wants to be touched, stroked and caressed by loving hands.
A line from a famous singer’s song ring in my ears. ‘Express yourself, don’t suppress yourself’. This is so true. Not that every person who has bad skin suffers from sexual suppression, just that many times suppressing sexual feelings and the lack of a healthy sexual relationship can lead to bad skin and skin problems. We have seen so many women between the ages of twenty and thirty who suffer from acne, dull looking skin and dark circles. They worry, become be pressed, fear marriage and more than anything else the insecurity of being rejected because of ugly skin. It is this complex which often leads to bad eating habits and irregular timing in work and sleep…… all of them being natural enemies to beautiful skin.
