This may be something that you never even considered to be responsible for making your skin break out. Have you tried endless home remedies, trips to the doctors and even changing your diet? If you have exhausted all of your options with your bad skin, you may have to look at the glasses you are wearing, as these could be responsible. You might have been wondering why your breakouts, blemishes and pimples are all too persistent, but now that you know, let us further break down why your glasses might be the main culprit to your bad skin.

Your glasses can harbor bacteria

Everywhere and anywhere you go, you venture wearing your glasses. Your eyeglass frame can be a magnet for dust, dirt, and bacteria. All of these accumulated particles and germs can transfer into your skin on a daily basis and then clog the hair follicle and cause acne and breakouts. The best way to combat this is to wash your glasses fully at least once a day.

Your skin care routine can be contributing

Even if you are not prone to oily skin, the oil from your skin care products can accumulate on your glasses and transfer onto your skin causing it to break out. To avoid this, choose your skin care products wisely and read labels. Buy non-comedogenic makeup and opt for water-based moisturizers. Make sure your glasses are clean before wearing them and make cleaning them part of your routine.

Are your glasses frames too tight?

If your glasses fit too tightly, they can clog your pores because they act as a plug to the hair follicles. Subsequently, dirt and bacteria are collected from the environment and prevent natural oils and dead skin cells in the skin from coming out. To avoid this occurrence, try to avoid too much pressure and friction from tight frames, adjust the frame so that it provides enough comfort and grip. You can also choose slimmer frames for a better option, since they cover less surface area.

Allergies

You might not have been aware that you could be allergic to one of the metal components in your glasses frame. Allergies can come in the form of skin blemishes, breakouts, rashes, itching and red marks. If you think you may be allergic, it’s a good idea to contact your doctor or go for an independent allergy test to get some answers. You may find a change of glasses/material fixes your skin problem.

Breakouts are such an inconvenience to your life in more ways than one and the certain cause of acne remains unknown. If you are a sufferer you will find this very frustrating. Doctors and skin care professionals alike suggest that hormones, lifestyle, and environment all play a role in causing breakouts and blemishes. Now, they have to consider wearing glasses as part of this list.
